I think when a surfer becomes a surfer, it's almost like an obligation to be an environmentalist at the same time. - Kelly Slater Every year in March and April, our attention is refocused towards the ocean. World Water Day and Earth Day make us rethink our efforts to preserve the ocean and to renew our gratitude to the Earth. Our thoughts shift, and we always make a summer resolution to get to the ocean more often. To inspire us to make that happen, we wanted to catch up with a foodie that we love, surfer Jasset Iva. When she's not modeling or planning epic trips to Australia, she's in the water catching a wave. Though she used to surf competitively, it took out the whole reason she began surfing in the first place - to have fun. We were so happy to have the chance to catch up and talk with Jasset between sets. If you could surf just one wave for the rest of your life, what would be your perfect wave? Lennox head in Australia - it breaks forever and is just the most perfect right hand. The place is beautiful too. What has been your favorite memory growing up surfing? Growing up surfing, my favorite memory was having a two-story shack on the beach. Surf boards would go on top. On the bottom, there was a big table, lights, and a tire swing. So at night, all of my friends and I would eat dinner out there and then after try to catch ghost crabs while listening to music. It was so fun! What's your ideal post-surf snack? Peanut butter on a piece of bread, or an avocado toast to hold me over until the next meal. Thank you so much for your time today, Jasset! We'd love to hear how you like to get your fix of time in the water. Whether it's the ocean, springs, lakes, rivers, or a combination of everything, let us know how you like to spend your days with nature!
