Trees for the Future: Restoring Rural Communities & Building a Sustainable Future

The saying goes that if you teach a man to fish, he will be able to feed himself for the rest of his life. When it comes to the sustainability of our earth and of communities around the world we must follow this same belief to maintain it for generations to come. When Dave and Grace Deppner traveled to the Philippines in the 1970s to serve as volunteers, they came face to face with human tragedy brought on by illegal logging and unsustainable land management systems. The communities natural resources were being depleted and no effort was made to restore them, leading to a way of life that would not be able to continue. Dave and Grace made it their mission to offer hope and revitalize degraded land by giving farmers tree seeds, technical training and on-site planning assistance Dave and Grace founded Trees for the Future to not only provide the seeds to plant trees and restore depleted environments, but to train local farmers in sustainable ways to continue to use the land for generations to come. Trees-for-the-Future Since it was founded, Trees for the Future has assisted thousands of communities around the world in planting millions of trees. Their reach now expands into 19 countries from Africa, to Asia to Latin America and continues to grow. When we discovered their role and effort in teaching the world to live more sustainably through reforestation, sustainable agriculture and land management, we were immediately drawn to their cause. Allgood Provisions has partnered with Trees for the Future to plant 1000’s of trees throughout the world and we're not stopping yet. We are honored to be a part of supporting this amazing non-profit.
